Stepping up for Chow Down's fifth release, Architect cooks up four formidable solo tracks for his debut EP, Breach. Having lit up up a heap of raves as 1/4 of Prestige Pak, Architect's unique sense of rhythm and melody has led to two consecutive releases on Mixpak's annual bundle.

In Breach, the London based producer conjures up scenes from a fictional world, drawing influence from rap, dancehall and dembow. EP opener 2AM provides a foreboding, menacing introduction; swirling together militant drum work with references to Timbaland and Chicago drill. Next up, Spartan Laser hauls the listener from the darkness of 2AM. Combining hefty bass work with infectious synth riffs, this hybrid of instrumental west-coast rap and dancehall is one for the club. Keeping the momentum going, Telekinesis hits the spot with bouncy dembow drums, disembodied chants and twisted trance textures - all underpinned by club weight. To round off the EP, an alternative mix of Telekinesis swaps melodic synth lines for marching, anthemic brass. As haunting as it is hypnotic.

Tipped as Ikonika's one to watch in 2018, the theatrics of Breach exhibits Architect's hunger to broadcast his signature take on club music.
